HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – The events have been set for the 2019 Great Northern Fair and the Fair Board is in the process of hiring a new manager. Chairman Tyler Smith says they are going through the final interview process to hire a new manager and, a few weeks ago, the Hill County Commissioners also appointed Shawn Bickford as their new board member.
Smith says the new manager will a be contractor, and not entitled to overtime pay.
“They don’t get county health benefits and they don’t have to abide by the county’s overtime hours. That’s what has really got us in a bad way. You know, during fair week, and even leading up to fair week, they work a tremendous amount.”
Smith says they’ve also signed another three-year contract with Dreamland Carnival.
“We’ve decided to stick with our carnival provider. They have made some reassurances to us that they were going to bring some bigger rides for the next three years. And we’re looking forward to getting a little better ride quality and a little better ride quantity.”
On March 5th at 6:30 PM, the Fair Board with host a meeting at the 4-H Chuckwagon to hear what kind of projects and upgrades people hope to see in the future.
