HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – The 2019 Great Northern Fair kicks off on Wednesday and Fair Board Chairman Tyler Smith says they are ready to go. Smith says that several changes have been made since last year, including removing the old Fair office building, adding Wi-Fi Internet to some areas, and repairing the west bathrooms.
“There’s a new location for the office and it is directly adjacent to the campground rest area. There will be signs up. And then there will also be a temporary office on the north side of the commercial building. So, people don’t need to walk all the way over to the new office in the old museum.”
Smith says that this will be the second year that they are charging for parking, but the money they raised from those fees last year helped them make some much-needed improvements.
“We were able to do about $35,000 of asphalt repairs on the grounds this year. And that just would not have been possible without the parking fees and without our day sponsors. They were desperately needed and, you know, we need to do some more.”
Smith says that Dreamland Carnival is returning again this year, with the promise of bringing bigger rides. Parking passes can be purchased at the Fair office on the grounds or at IGA, Stromberg’s Sinclair, Diesel Doctor, and Lakeside Excavation.
