Guilty of Manslaughter in Fatal Crash

(Great Falls)- A reckless and speeding driver has now plead guilty to involuntary manslaughter after crashing and killing her passenger. A government investigation determined that the driver, Rachel Goodbird and passenger were drinking prior to driving the vehicle. Then seconds before the crash the Goodbird was driving at approximately 80mph in a 35mph speed zone. The vehicle was then unable to make a turn, entered into a ditch and hit an embankment, killing the passenger.

The crash took place on the Fort Peck Indian Reservation. Sentencing is set for March 9, 2023. The driver faces a maximum of eight years in prison, a $250,000 fine and three years of supervised release.
