HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – After a turbulent year and a half, the H. Earl Clack Museum and Wahkpa Chu’gn Buffalo Jump in Havre are back to their summer hours.
Museum Manager Emily Mayer says that when volunteers and an archaeologist cleaned the buffalo jump this spring, there was a new discovery.
“This last season, with the slough off, it exposed a partial buffalo skull that was holding up a post for the corral, which is very, very exciting. Because it was way back into the dig where nothing had been exposed. So of course, nature just kind of exposed itself.”
Mayer says that the Museum remains in good financial shape, and she is working on holding a new tour of Highland Cemetery either this fall or next year.
Visitors are urged to wear a face covering and social distance.
