BIG HORN COUNTY, Mont. (NMB) – A 79-year-old woman from Hardin was killed in a crash early Monday morning on I-90 eastbound after her stopped vehicle was struck by an oncoming semi truck.
The Montana Highway Patrol reports that the crash occurred at 1:31 AM, when the woman was driving a Honda CRV eastbound at mile marker 490 near Hardin. The vehicle drifted off the left side of the road and into the median and overcorrected, causing it to cross back over into the eastbound lanes.
The vehicle then went off the right side of the road, rolled and came to rest in the eastbound driving lane facing north.
The vehicle was then struck by an eastbound Freightliner Semi that was pulling a trailer. The driver of the CRV, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene.
The two occupants of the semi, a 32-year-old man and 24-year-old man from Texas, were not injured.
The road was dry at the time.
Drugs, alcohol or excessive speed are all not suspected factors.
