Havre 4th of July Festival Set For Thursday At Pepin Park

HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – Havre’s annual 4th of July Festival will take place in Pepin Park on Thursday and the community is invited. Event Director Sherri Simonson says the celebration starts at noon and features a free community barbeque. She says they will have hamburgers and hot dogs, as well as live music.

“This year we’re going to try something kind of new, we are actually going to have nachos. We are going to sell those. They are just something extra, and all of the profits from that will stay within the event, it’s just to help, kind of support the event itself. So, we’re going to offer nachos that people can buy for $2 a boat.”

Simonson says they will have face painting and balloon animals available

“We have a gentleman Cory, he comes down and volunteers his time and his supplies to do balloons for young kids, so he’s usually one of the last people to leave the park. He’s very dedicated to that. So, we still do have those two events, and then we’ll have a number of other activities. We’re trying something kind of new this year, we’re going to actually have plants that little kids can plant, a little flower, and then probably some games and stuff as well. So, we do try to do a lot of activities for kids.”

They hope to have the Set Free Church providing snow cones. Simonson says they will also have auction items and a raffle, and the proceeds will go back into the festival. They will also be selling Blue Stars posters to help support Montana soldiers being deployed this fall. She suggests that people bring their own chairs.
