HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – Havre has sent in their application to become a Main Street Montana Affiliate Community, and is expected to hear back from the Department of Commerce over the coming weeks.
Paul Tuss, Executive Director of Bear Paw Development and a member of the Downtown Havre Matters! Steering Committee, says if the designation is approved, the next step will be to create a master plan to outline potential improvements to downtown.
“There’s some interest in having some public art, there’s some interest in sprucing up some of the older buildings. There are some beautiful, beautiful buildings in downtown Havre. If we just took a little bit of effort and spruced them up, they would look that much better.”
Tuss says while the master plan is being created, public comment will not only be accepted, but appreciated.
“Because a lot of the really good ideas are roaming around in folks heads about what it can look like how we can make downtown more prosperous, how we can make downtown more beautiful, how we can make downtown more attractive to not just residents but visitors as well.”
There is no firm timeline on this project, but Tuss says a master plan could be completed by the end of the year if the designation is approved.
