The Havre Blue Ponies basketball teams matched up with Missoula Loyola Sacred Heart on Saturday to close out the inaugural “East-West Showdown” from the Blue Pony Corral.
In the girls’ game, the Blue Ponies defeated the Breakers, (70-42). Sophomore Amaya Jarvis continued to shine, scoring 20 points and recording five steals. Sophomore forward Ariana Gary wasn’t too far behind in points with 13 and junior forward Tierra Parker picked up 12. The Lady Blue Ponies (5-0) will host Browning on Dec. 21 at 7pm.
For the Blue Pony boys’, they suffered their first defeat on the season, losing to the Rams, (61-55). Havre went toe-to-toe with the defending Class ‘B’ champions, but it was Loyola who ultimately prevailed, led by junior giants Reynolds Johnston and Ethan Stack, who combined for 33 points. Junior guard Tre Gary poured in a game-high 25 points for Havre, but no other Blue Pony exceeded double-figures. The Havre boys’ (4-1) will be on the road to take on Browning at 7:15pm on Dec. 21
