Havre basketball ended its East-West Showdown Tournament performances in Lockwood on Saturday with a split. The girls’ won against Butte Central, (61-16), while the boys’ fell short against the Maroons, (52-50).
For the girls’ (5-1), the defense was the standard, holding the Lady Maroons to nine points at the half and scoreless in the third quarter. Every single Blue Pony who played scored in the game, led by Ariana Gary’s 17 points. Amaya Jarvis had 15 points, while Tierra Parker was in double-digits again with 10 points and Olivia Keller put up a career-high 10 points as well.
The boys’ (4-2) had a close battle throughout, coming away with just a one-point lead at halftime on a (13-4) run in the second quarter. Butte Central answered right back with a (25-9) run in the third quarter. Havre battled and was able to get back in it late, but Butte Central had one more bucket in them. Tre Gary finished the contest with 16 points to lead the Ponies, while Matt Huse went for 11 points.
Havre will not play basketball again until the new year, hosting Laurel on Jan. 4, 2025.
