HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – Next month, Havre Beneath the Streets will be hosting a Roaring 20’s Underground Fundraiser to raise money to repair the damaged sidewalk at the end of their tour. Office Manager Christy Owens says it will be held on Friday, April 26th at Havre’s Eagles Club and they’ll serve steak and prawns for dinner.
“With it being the Roaring 20’s theme, we want you to come in your flapper dresses and zoot suits, or come as you are. We want this to kind of be a fun event rolling back to the 20’s. We’re also going to have a, you know, little photo booth kind of set up that you can do fun pictures on your own.”
Owens says that they wanted a unique fundraiser and the Underground was active in Havre during the Roaring 20’s.
“Well the active time was actually around the 1880’s through the 1930’s. So some of it was, you know, still going during the 30’s and some of it was rumored to go on later than that. You know, so there was a period of time that things were going on down there in the 20’s as well.”
Doors will open at 6 PM and tickets cost $35 per person. They are seeking donated items for the silent auction and raffles, and all items need to be turned in by Wednesday, April 24th.
