(Havre) – The Havre Public Schools Board of Trustees had their regular monthly meeting on Tuesday night. The October Pony Pride Award was presented to long time Havre Public Schools employee and current Highland Park Librarian Kathryn Holt.
In new business, the board unanimously approved on first reading a batch of new and revised district policies. Next the board approved the use of Student Opportunity Funds for two departments at Havre Middle School. The first use will allow the Family and Consumer Sciences program at Havre Middle School to restart a sewing program. The funding will be used to purchase sewing machines and supplies for the students. The second use for the funds will be for the Industrial Arts Program at Havre Middle School to replace to replace the control module for the CNC router at the school.
City of Havre Mayor Doug Kaercher attended to meeting to start a dialogue with the board of trustees, about discussions that started between the city and former Superintendent Craig Mueller that have continued with current Superintendent Gum about a land swap between the City and the school district. The board of trustees tabled the discussion.
