The Havre boys’ basketball program held tryouts over the weekend. Head coach Walynn Burgess was expecting between 30 and 35 kids to come try out to make the Blue Ponies roster. He shared with New Media Broadcasters what the exact number was and was very appreciative of each and every one of the students who showed up to give it a go.
“We had pretty good numbers come through; 32 kids came to try out this last week,” Burgess said. “It was good to see the kids come out and try. That’s the name of the game right now. We got down to a number we feel pretty comfortable with.”
So what happens in the meantime? Burgess explains how the team being set now gives the kids time to gel and work on what they need to work on ahead of a Dec. 8 tilt at East Helena.
“We’re excited to get the ball rolling now that we are all the way through tryouts,” Burgess said. “Now, it’s the fun time of getting it all started.”
“The guys are going to have enough time to bond together and get ready to go for the season,” Burgess continued. “It’s build time right now.”
