HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – On Monday night, Havre’s City Council met for their regular meeting in City Hall. The Council passed a resolution that allows the City to add unpaid bills for mowing nuisance weeds from this summer to the owner’s property taxes. Mayor Tim Solomon says this is something they do every year.
The Council also passed a resolution to apply for a grant that would fund a water line project on Boulevard Avenue. The request is for just over $453,000 and Bear Paw Development is assisting with the grant. This water project would add redundancy to the water system in the Highland Park area, making sure they can deliver water to the hospital if another area fails. Public Works Director Dave Peterson says they hope to start on this project next year.
The Council also renewed a memorandum of understanding with the State of Montana to allow the city to buy surplus property. Gal Phillips with PJ’s Restaurant was also granted a request to have outdoor music during this weekends Festival Days celebrations.
