HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – The Havre City Council held their regular monthly meeting on Monday evening and passed several agenda items by unanimous vote.
On second reading, the Council approved an ordinance that states it is illegal to purposely or knowingly provide supplemental feed to deer.
Although this is already in state law and citable by Fish, Wildlife, and Parks, the Council hopes to use this as an educational tool to try and decrease the overpopulation of deer in Havre. It will be enforceable by the Havre Police Department, which can write citations.
Other agenda items passed at the meeting:
- A resolution amending the budget in the sewer fund to allow grant funds to be spent on a project related to the Clear Creek Trailer Park
- A resolution donating a 1991 Bauer Air Compressor to the Loma Volunteer Fire Department. The Havre Fire Department recently purchased a new air compressor, and Loma expressed interest in receiving the old one
- The ratification of the Montana Federation of Public Employees Dispatcher’s Collective Bargaining Agreement, which will run through June 30th, 2022
- December manual claims and warrants
No members of the public provided comment.
The next City Council meeting is scheduled for February 1st.
