Havre City Council Meeting – 10/7/2024

(Havre) The Havre City Council held their monthly meeting on October 7th in City Hall.

The city passed an ordinance which will allow the Havre Police Department to auction off unclaimed equipment and property, as well as approving a renewal of an agreement with NorthWestern Energy to continue to provide gas service to Havre residents. This agreement is set to last for 10 years.

The Dispatcher Collective Bargaining Agreement was approved.

The Montana Department of Environmental Quality has rescinded their health advisories on the City of Havre’s water supply, and it will become official after being reviewed by a legal team.

The City also accepted public comment where the issue of homeless safety was brought up, with temperatures getting deadly low during winter months. The City has said they will begin research on possible pop-up shelters and it’s feasibility around city ordinance.

The next council meeting is scheduled for November 4th.
