Havre City Judge Resigns During City Council Meeting

HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – Havre’s City Council met Monday night with only one item on the agenda. They also said goodbye to Councilmember Andrew Brekke, as this was his last meeting.

The Council heard an update from Chris Inman, Havre’s Park and Recreation Director. She says they recently fixed and updated an electrical issue at the pool and replaced 37 trees that were damaged in last years snow storm.

At the end of the meeting, Havre City Judge Virginia Seigel unexpectedly announced her resignation, as she will start a job with the Customs and Border Patrol. Her final day will be January 21st. She recommended City Court Clerk Tyson Bliwernitz to take over until an election can be held, as there is a judicial training that starts in two weeks and only occurs every four years.

Mayor Tim Solomon said he will have to look into the ordinances to see how they can proceed.
