HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – Around 675 meals were served at this year’s free Havre Community Christmas Dinner, according to local organizers.
Havre Eagles Club Secretary Doug Denny says that 330 meals were delivered, while the rest were either eaten in-house or taken to-go.
“We had a great time doing it. We had a few hiccups, but we’ll work on that. Again, this was kind of a first year for most of us on the side of planning it. I think it went pretty well. We went off a few notes and memories of people from last year.”
Denny says that thanks to an outpouring of support from the community, there were more than enough volunteers.
“As a matter of fact, we probably had a little too many volunteers there at the end. But people still stepped up and helped out where they could. So I would say the volunteers were wonderful this year. Hopefully we can get the same amount of participation next year.”
Although the Eagles Club hosts the dinner, it is funded entirely by local community donors and run by volunteers.
