(Havre) The Havre Community Pool will be closed until further notice following the city’s Boil Water Advisory.
The announcement came via the official Havre Community Pool Facebook Page.
New Media Broadcasters spoke with William Cochran, Environmental Disease Specialist and Sanitarian in Training with the Hill County Health Department, for more information.
“The decision to close the pool did come from me after consulting with DEQ, I was in contact with Josh Seekins. After talking with Josh, he advised me that in the past, he has had people drain their pools in the case of a boil advisory, or have the local sanitarian close them down just in case because that chlorine residual in the water isn’t guaranteed to kill the Giardia cyst”
Giardia is the infection causing organism in question for this boil advisory.
Havre Mayor Doug Kaercher and Parks and Recreation Director Chris Inman were unavailable for comment as of this time.
