Every Thanksgiving the Havre community has a Turkey dinner for the everyone to enjoy.
Local Havre resident and a volunteer at the community Thanksgiving Dinner Alan Sorenson explains how the event got started.
“Well, I was around when it first started back in the early eighties and the first anonymous donor asked me if I could find another anonymous donor because the time was coming. He had been doing it for 17 years, so I said OK, and I did. Then he came back and said I’ve decided I want to keep doing it and the other guy said no I want to do it now. So that’s how that happened. So, every year we just check with him, makes sure he wants to do it again. There’s no cost to anybody, we refuse donations it’s all on him and he wants to feed as many people as possible.”– Alan Sorenson
