Great Falls, MT — The Havre Northstars continued their dominant run through the 2026 American Legion Class A North District Tournament on Saturday, overwhelming the previously unbeaten Great Falls Chargers 18-1 in five innings to punch their ticket to Sunday’s championship game.
Despite surrendering the game’s first run, Havre wasted little time seizing control. The Northstars answered with four runs in the bottom of the first inning, highlighted by an RBI single from Quinn Elliot, and never looked back.
Havre doubled its advantage in the second, plating four more runs to extend the lead to 8-1. Teegan Solomon and Connor Essert each drove in runs during the inning as the Northstars continued to put relentless pressure on the Chargers.
The game was effectively decided in the third inning when Havre erupted for eight runs, blowing the contest wide open. Archer Sawdey, Solomon, Essert, Kody Standiford, and Cooper Walton all collected RBIs during the offensive outburst, stretching the lead to 16-1 and putting the mercy rule well within reach.
While the offense stole the spotlight, Elliot was equally impressive on the mound. The right-hander tossed five no-hit innings, allowing just one unearned run while striking out eight to cap a dominant all-around performance by the Northstars.
With the victory, Havre remains undefeated in tournament play and advances directly to Sunday’s championship game, where first pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
The tournament’s remaining berth in the title game will be determined later Saturday. The Lethbridge Miners and Tri-County Cardinals are set to square off at 7 p.m., with the winner advancing to face the Great Falls Chargers for the right to challenge Havre in the championship.
