(NMB) In an update from a story we reported earlier this week, Hill County Sheriff/ Coroner Jamie Ross has confirmed the name of the woman involved in a fatal crash on Highway 2 on December 31st as 77-year-old Joy “Sug” Hokanson of Havre.
According to the Montana Highway patrol Hokanson’s silver Chevrolet pickup was driving east on US Highway 2, when she suffered a medical event causing the vehicle to drive off the right side of the roadway. The vehicle continued in a forward motion for several hundred feet before crashing into private property. Hokanson was transported by ambulance to Northern Montana Hospital and later passed due to injuries sustained in the crash not the medical event. The Highway Patrol reports that a lack of seatbelt use directly contributed to the severe injuries and the ultimate fatality.
