(Havre) The Girls Scouts of Montana and Wyoming recognized Havre Girl Scout Liliana Smith for earning the Girl Scout Gold Award, which is the highest achievement a Girl Scout can earn.
New Media Broadcasters spoke with Smith about what she did for her gold award.
“I really enjoy dancing and there’s not a lot to do in Havre because it’s a small town, so I figured offering dance classes for those who couldn’t afford it would give kids something to do where they can create new friendships, learn new techniques and learn how to count and think about what’s next for their moves that I taught them, and then building stage performances for when they performed in front of parents”
Smith said her biggest lessons from her time teaching was how to create new choreography, teach it well enough so the students remember, and developing patience for small children.
