Laurel, MT – Heading into the final event of the year at Class A State track Saturday, Havre’s girls team held a lead over Corvallis and needed strong finish in the 4x400m relay.
The Blue Pony quartet of Macy Brandon, Liv Cote, Kara Kellem and Ela Harber placed fifth in the event with a time of four minutes 4.19 seconds ahead of Corvallis at sixth (4:09.99) giving Havre girls track their first outright state championship in 35 years.
Macy Brandon left her mark all over the track for Havre Claiming first place in the 200 Meter at 24.90 seconds, the 400 Meter at 56.86 seconds and in the 100 Meter with a time of 11.99 seconds which set a new Class A State record. The previous record was 12.24 seconds.
Cassidy Leeds, Liv Cote, Ela Harber and Brandon broke a state record in the 4×100 meter prelims Friday at 47.77 seconds and followed that up with a first-place finish Saturday at 47.79 seconds.
Other top three finishers for Havre girls was Kara Kellem in the 100 Meter hurdles finishing third at 15.78 seconds. Daceen Verploegen finished second for the Blue Ponies in the High Jump reaching 5’2″.
On the Boys side Teegan Solomon took first place in the Pole Vault reaching 13’6″ and Tommy Lewis claimed second in the shot put with a distance of 54’3″.
