(Havre) Housing across the Hi-Line is at some of the lowest it’s ever been, and annual costs related to housing in Havre continue to rise, with some reports putting costs at just south of 2 thousand dollars a month.
Trina Crawford, executive director of Havre’s Salvation Army Emergency Services Center, says that she sees people with jobs but no homes all the time.
“You know, it is not unusual for people to come in that are homeless and have a job. That is very- that is not out of the ordinary, actually. So, you know that’s one of the things that is very difficult and hard is trying to find affordable housing, because again, so many of the jobs are part time jobs and are minimum wage or barely above minimum wage and that just does not pay the rent in Havre Montana for most people”
