HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – The Havre Jaycees are working on finding a new location for their annual Haunted House.
The old location above the Havre Eagle’s Club is no longer suitable for events due to updated fire and safety codes.
Kevin Holmes of the Havre Jaycees says it is unclear if they will be able to hold the event this year, but they are scouting out several potential locations.
“Right now it just comes down to the Jaycees being able to come down to a decision on what is going to work best for what we need to do. And being able to figure out something to where we’re able to bring the same sort of event to the community, make a big impact with everybody, and still bring something to people that they enjoy. That’s the main thing, having something that everyone does enjoy going to and still being able to achieve our same goal with being able to supply the Food Bank with our donations that we raise for that event.”
Even with the unexpected hurdle, Holmes says they remain optimistic that there will be a Haunted House this year.
“We do have a lot of ideas floating around. So we’re not short of ideas at all. But if anybody out there is willing to give us anymore ideas or suggestions on what we should do or where we should have it, we’re 100 percent open to anything.”
The annual Haunted House was not held last year due to COVID-19 precautions. Funds raised go to Jaycees projects, and people also donate food for the Havre Food Bank.
