Havre Lady Ponies Basketball Stays Undefeated Against Browning

The Havre girls’ picked up another victory on the season on Thursday night, defeating Browning (73-42). Nine Blue Ponies got on the scoresheet during the game. Havre raced out to a (21-7) lead after a quarter and outscored Browning in every quarter by double-digits.

Speaking of double-digit scoring, the Blue Ponies had three individuals in the points category, led by sophomore Amaya Jarvis’ 15. Junior forward Sierra Parker put in 14 and sophomore forward Ariana Gary wasn’t too far behind with 12 points.

“We just came in with the right mindset knowing that we wanted to see how well we could move the ball on a really good team,” Jarvis said. “Everyone knew their role in how we were going to play this game.”

“I thought our enthusiasm and hard play was good tonight,” Blue Ponies coach Dustin Kraske said “Some things we need to work on (include) the five-on-five offense is a little too quick for our liking, so we’re going to have to continue working on slowing down.”

With the upcoming game against Laurel canceled, the Lady Blue Ponies will head into the Christmas break undefeated at (6-0). Havre will play three games on the road to begin 2024: at Hardin on Jan. 5, at Custer County on Jan 6, and at Dawson County on Jan. 13.

“(We will be working) mainly on our defense,” Jarvis said. “As our defense gets better, our offense flows better.”

“We’re getting real close to playing good defense for a long period of time,” Kraske said. “It’s all technique-based, so it’ll just be some subtle adjustments with our feet, our hips, how (we’re) going to slide through screens and communicate.”

“I appreciate how hard our kids are playing and we’ll go from there,” Kraske continued.
