HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – A Havre man has been sentenced to four years in prison after being found guilty of tampering with or fabricating physical evidence.
Jeremy Clement Larsen, 43, was sentenced Monday by Hill County District Court Judge Kaydee Snipes-Ruiz following a same day non-jury trial.
Court documents alleged that in July 2021, Larsen, who had a probation and parole pick up and hold order, was located at the Duck Inn. While being placed in handcuffs, Larsen allegedly threw a dollar bill behind a machine that was later found to contain 0.77 grams of meth. The dollar bill had been ripped in half, and the other half was located when officers searched Larson’s belongings were searched while in custody.
Larsen was also found guilty of misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia for a case that began this year, but it was determined that the time he’s already served in prison was enough of a consequence, so that sentenced was discharged.
The sentence will run consecutively with a three-year prison term for a revocation of a suspended sentence handed down in April 2022, with 153 days of time already served at the time of revocation. Larsen was given a suspended sentence in March 2021 after being convicted of the felony of criminal possession of dangerous drugs. Following the suspended sentence being handed down, Snipes-Ruiz said Larsen failed to address chemical dependency issues and absconded from the court.
