Havre Ordinance Committee Continues Discussions on Large Vehicle Parking

HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – The Havre City Council’s Ordinance Committee convened on Monday evening and continued discussions on a possible revision of an ordinance related to the parking of large vehicles.

Ordinance updates could ban trailers and RVs from street parking for lengthy periods of time, as well as issue setback requirements to ensure that they aren’t encroaching on other’s property. Regarding curb cuts, the Committee is considering updating their policies to meet the city’s current needs.

A curb cut request is when a property owner wants to either put in an approach or expand a current approach.

Alderman Andrew Brekke said he is continuing to do research into the issue and will come back to the Committee with a draft proposal.

He says he wants to put into the ordinance wording that states large vehicles cannot park on lawns.

No action was taken at the meeting. Ordinance changes must be approved twice by the full Council in order to be enacted.
