HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – Havre Public Schools is seeking the community’s input on potential changes to the District’s calendar next school year.
Superintendent Craig Mueller says this comes as the District considers moving to a four-day school week.
“(We’re looking at the community’s) level of comfortability with several options that we’ve determined. That based on looking at districts that have adopted a flexible calendar. Some of the problems that they’ve encountered, but also some of the benefits. So we shorten that list down and we’re looking for some feedback from the public.”
Mueller says once results come in, they will likely move to the next step into the research process the Calendar Committee is engaged in.
“And down the road we have planned likely another survey. But also, we’re looking at establishing a date for a community forum. Kind of a town hall meeting where we would have members of the Havre Education Association and members of our collectively bargained units available to answer questions from the public about this process and about schedules that we’re looking at and considering for the future.”

As of Monday morning, Mueller said they had received around 400 responses to the survey.
