HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – On Tuesday, Havre’s School Board of Trustees held their regular meeting at Havre Middle School. Superintendent of Schools Andy Carlson says they had the second reading for several policy changes, and one he has received many questions about involved early enrollment in kindergarten.
“A proven policy and actually putting a program in place and having the Trustees approve that program, there’s a great distance between that. The children that would be eligible for that program have to meet criteria that the Board would have to approve, as well. So, it’s not open enrollment for kindergarten.”
The Board also approved their Board Evaluation tool, which helps them evaluate each other and how they work as a Board.
“The approved the evaluation tool. And our Board is, they actually have quite a respected tool as far as for their evaluation. In fact, other school districts asked them to copy it. So, they’ve been using that for quite a while. Which also, I think is beneficial to them because they’ve been consistent with their measurements.”
Carlson says that their winter sports season is underway and the schools have started putting on their holiday concerts and programs.
