Havre Schools to Host Vaping Meeting for Parents Tuesday

HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – On Tuesday evening, Havre Schools will be hosting a meeting for parents and guardians to learn about electronic cigarettes and vaping identification and prevention. Assistant Superintendent Craig Mueller says the meeting will be from 6 to 7 PM at the Havre High School Auditorium and childcare will be provided.

“The focus is on parents, guardians, and also community members, but we won’t allow students to attend because part of the presentation that Kris gives is tips for parents who want to identify some of the e-cigarette, kind of, unknowns, for lack of a better term.”

Mueller says that Kris Minard will give the presentation and talk about the dangers and prevalence of vaping in Montana

“She talks primarily about e-cigarettes. She’s got a lot of Montana-specific information and so she’ll talk about vaping. She’ll talk about juuling. She’ll talk about other ways that the big tobacco companies are infusing tobacco in a variety of different ways, and making it more accessible for young adults.”

Presentations about the dangers of vaping will also be held in Chinook Public Schools on Tuesday during the day and at Sunnyside School, Havre Middle School and Havre High School on Wednesday. The Boys and Girls Club will also have their “In Plain Sight” display to help parents identify these products.
