Havre, MT – It is do or die, win or stay home for Blue Pony softball who will host East Helena late Friday afternoon with a chance to the state tournament on the line.
Blue Pony head coach Tony Vigliotti said that his team is one step away from their season goal of making the state tournament. “We gave ourselves an opportunity to host this play-in game and that’s what we wanted to do. We like where we’re sitting and we like our chances to get to that state tournament next week.”
Coach Vigliotti knows it won’t be an easy task but also knows what his team needs to do to reach their goal.”Well, we’re going to have to play what I think is our brand of softball. we’re going to have to play good defense… our pitching has got more consistent and we’re happy with that, and we’ll have to put the ball in play and we have done that.”
East Helena defeated Hardin 10-0 Tuesday night and will be the Blue Ponies play-in game opponent. First pitch is set for 4p.m. Friday May 22.
Havre and East Helena played in the season opener that Havre won 12-10 after trailing 10-7 heading into the top of the sixth inning.
