The Havre High Softball Team now sitting at (5-1) on the season is off to a hot start. A key kog in the Blue Ponies success has been their defense that has forced multiple shutouts, but not the be forgotten, Havre’s offense has scored double digits in all but one of their victories thus far. When asked the reason in his team’s early success at the plate, Coach Vigliotti credits his players hard work in the off-season but also admits being forced to practice indoors has helped:
“I think it’s a testament to the girls and their hard work in the off-season. I honestly think being inside has had a lot to do with it, not much you can work on other than fundamentals indoors. i think that’s been a big help for us.” – Vigliotti
The weather isn’t just helping with fundamentals, Havre’s scheduled game Friday at Sidney has been postponed until May 8th. This will be the 3rd postponed game early in Havre’s season. Coach Vigliotti was asked if along with the fundamentals, has there been any other benefits to the delays and indoor practices that he did not predict:
“Well, I think it has been a frustrating spring, in my six years as the head coach this has probably been the most frustrating spring in terms of weather. Cancellations, you know, move this game here move that game there. It’s been a good life lesson for all of us, just control the things you can control.” – Vigliotti
The Blue Ponies travel to Glendive Saturday as of now, stay tuned for updates due to the weather.
