Havre Softball Wins First Game of Season

Havre High softball dominated in the first game of the season, winning on the road in Miles City on Saturday afternoon, (11-1) in five innings.

After its home and season opener was postponed due to inclement weather against East Helena on Friday, the Lady Ponies responded, jumping out to a (1-0) lead in the first inning on a Camille Keeley RBI single.

The difference in the game was the second inning, where Havre crossed the plate seven times. Bree Hanson recorded a triple that scored two runs. She later scored on a wild pitch. The Ponies got their next runs on a walk, single, hit-by-pitch, and another wild pitch.

Rachel Jette had a good day on the mound, throwing the full five innings, allowing one run on two hits with four strikeouts. She also helped her own cause by recording a single that scored a run in the third inning.

The softball team at Havre High plays Fergus in Lewistown on Friday, followed by the home opener against Miles City on Saturday.
