Havre Swimming Inches Closer To Meets

With winter sports starting to ramp up, New Media Broadcasters will continue to preview the programs in our listening area. The Havre swimming team has been training for next week’s first meet.

Head coach Jill Cammon did a breakdown for New Media Broadcasters of the returners and newbies.

“We have several returning starters this year,” Cammon said. “Elizabeth and Miriam is new this year. Liliana Smith. We have Olivia Erickson, who is new not to swimming, but to high school. We have Britt Eliott, who has come over from basketball, but she’s a long-time swimmer in Chinook.”

“Blake Taylor has come back for our boys’ team (and) same with Koby Preputin,” Cammon said. “I’m looking forward to coaching Micah Cammon and Tolson Kempton.”

Cammon is also excited about the new swimmers that she will be able to help train to carry on a legacy that she has built over the number of years with the Blue Ponies.

“We have several new swimmers, whether those are freshmen or coming in later as friends of other swimmers,” Cammon said. “We’ll see how they do this year. It’s looking promising.”

There will be eight schools that will be competing in the first swim meet of the year and Havre is one of just two Class ‘A’ schools along with Hardin. The Billings Invitational kicks off on Dec. 9.
