Havre Tennis Results – Eastern ‘A’ Divisional Meet

The Havre tennis teams were in Glendive for the Eastern ‘A’ Divisional Tourament this weekend. Here are some notable participants who qualified for next week’s state tournament:

Havre had the top two doubles teams in Divisionals. The Spangler brothers were the No. 1 seed and rolled all the way to the Eastern ‘A’ boys doubles championship. The duo dropped five games in three matches played, winning each one in straight sets.

Mason Kinsella and Carter Chagnon were the No. 2 seed in the boys’ doubles field and were upset in the second round. They used that fuel to blow through the consolation bracket, matching up with teammates Reid Kato and Callen Stoner in the first loser-out match, taking the win, (6-2, 6-1). They were victorious in their next match over Miles City, (6-4, 6-1) before falling in the consolation match final to Dawson County. As a result, Kinsella and Chagnon will be the No. 4 doubles seed out of the Eastern Region next week.

Havre also carried a singles player all the way to state as Jackson Headdress journeyed to a fourth-place finish. After winning his opening match, (6-1, 6-2), he fell in the second round, but like Kinsella and Chagnon was able to battle his way to the third-place match. Headdress will represent the Ponies as a No. 4 seed singles player.

Havre will be in Kalispell for the State Class ‘A’ Tournament, which is set to begin this coming Thursday.
