Havre Track and Field Team Still Preparing for First Action of the Season

The Havre Track & Field Team is still gearing up for their first meet of the season which will have to wait another week with the Lewistown meet postponed. The Blue Ponies have spent the majority of their time practicing indoors with the Montana weather making outdoor practices more difficult than normal.

Sitting down with Blue Pony Track and Field Head Coach Kari Filius, she was asked how her, and her coaching staff have combated hosting practices inside for the majority of their season. She credits her coaching staff for adjusting and finding unique ways to practice:

You know actually we’ve been doing really well. I have really good coaches who get creative and do research to see what they we can do inside.” – Filius

With an extra week now to prepare for the opening track meet in Lewistown, Coach Filius was asked what her main focus would be in terms of preparation. She says until they have a meet it is difficult to pinpoint one singular thing.

We need a meet, everyone needs a meet to see where we are. We need to get everyone a couple of events then we can gauge where we are at.” – Filius

The Havre Track & Field Team is now scheduled to open up their season Thursday April 13th in Lewistown.
