The Havre Blue Ponies Field & Track Team traveled to Laurel on Saturday to compete in the Gold Strike Invitational. The Havre Girls placed 5th in 55 points and the Havre Boys placed 4th with 49 points.
With multiple Blue Pony Athletes finishing in the top 5 in their respective competitions, it was Kaydance Reiter (ride-er) leading the way with two first place finishes in the 100 & 200 meter race. When asked about her team’s performance, Coach Kari Filius was overall very happy with how many of her players finished in the top 5:
Havre High Track and Field Coach Kari Filius – “I thought we, we competed well, and we had a lot of season records and personal records. We had a lot of kids finish in the top five in a lot of different events. And we had our, you know, top performances were from Kaydance Reiter. She was first in the one hundred and two hundred. Things are getting, (inaudible) distances were gettin’ better, times were gettin’ better. So we’re movin’ in the right direction. It was nice to see those teams, so we know, you know, where we kinda need to go.”
The Blue Ponies travel to Whitefish this weekend, giving them a first look at competition on the west side of the state. Coach Filius speaks about the importance of seeing new competition and the great teams they’ll face:
Havre High Track and Field Coach Kari Filius – “Well, it’s a nice one because it’s, it’s on the west side, and we get to see some of the west teams. Not all of them, but we do get to see Whitefish, who has, traditionally has a great boys and girls track team. And then Columbia Falls goes to that meet too. They’re good teams. And it’s another really important one for the kids to get to. So we can compete again against really good competition.
