Havre Trustee Election Profile: Erin Pulse

HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – A Consumer Department Assistant at Independence Bank, Erin Pulse cites her prior experience as a substitute teacher and paraprofessional at the Havre School District as reasons why she is a good fit to be a Trustee on the School Board.

“Sometimes parents talk, students talk, and the Board needs someone who hears what the issues are and the solutions that they are presenting. Not someone who will try and please everyone, but someone who listens and can come up with constructive solutions. I truly believe a parent, like myself, is the best for the School Board.”

Pulse believes that there has been a lack of communication between the Board and the community in recent years, and says as a parent of children in the District, she would work to rectify that if elected.

“Parents don’t feel like they have or have had the ability to communicate with the Board. They have issues concerning their children, the grounds, whatever it might be. I’ve spoken with a lot of parents who don’t feel they have that open communication or that ability to sit down and have a conversation with a board member and give them the issues that they have and possibly through that persons opinion, what kind of strategies that could be used to fix it. I know that I’ve been to several board meetings. I can’t tell you the last board meeting I went to where I saw a teacher. I only see administration. I want the teachers to feel like they can come to the School Board meetings and express their concerns, and that the new group of board members, hopefully including myself, will make them comfortable enough to know that they can come and we will do the best we can to help them with any situation they bring to us.”

Pulse also says she works part time at Bow & Marrow, and has been active in the community as a volunteer with MSU-Northern rodeo and also was a part of the Havre Jaycees before aging out last year.

Pulse is competing against four other candidates for two three-year terms on the school Board. The election is set for Tuesday, May 4th.
