HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – Havre Public Works Department is fixing a water break that occurred Monday in the water tank near Legion Field. Deputy Public Works Director Jeff Jensen says that a gasket failed in the entrance to the tank, but repairs can’t begin until all 3.25 million gallons of water has been drained.
The tank has been shut off and everyone in town is still receiving water from another tank.
Jensen says that even though it feels warm outside, the frost is being driven further underground, which can cause freezes and breaks. He recommends that people leave a small stream of water running in the home to prevent this.
Jensen says they are also dealing with another break on 8th Avenue on Tuesday.
