GREAT FALLS, Mont. (NMB) – A Havre woman was arraigned in U.S. District Court on Thursday based on allegations that she distributed fentanyl.
Tasha Leigh Morsette, 33, pleaded not guilty at her hearing in Great Falls of the charges of conspiracy to distribute fentanyl and distribution of fentanyl. She was detained pending further proceedings.
If convicted of the most serious crime, Morsette faces a maximum 20 years in prison, a $1 million fine, and three years of supervised release.
According to court documents, a grand jury indicted Morsette on May 6th on the two felony counts. The indictment alleges that between January 1st and March 9th of 2021, Morsette knowingly and intentionally conspired with others to distribute fentanyl in Hill County, including on the Rocky Boy’s Reservation.
Morsette has had a public defender appointed on her behalf.
The case was investigated by the FBI.
A plea agreement deadline has been set for July 13th, with a jury instruction and briefs deadline on July 20th if the case goes to trial.
