HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – A 73-year-old Havre woman was killed in a head-on crash on US Highway 2 on Monday afternoon.
Montana Highway Patrol was dispatched to the scene at 12:20 pm near mile marker 387, just west of Pork Chop Hill.
The crash report states that an eastbound Dodge Dakota struck a westbound Honda Accord head-on after attempting to pass a semi. The crash occurred in the westbound lane.
The driver of the Accord, who was wearing a seatbelt, was declared dead at the scene. The driver of the Dakota, a 29-year-old Havre woman who was not wearing a seatbelt, was taken to Benefis Hospital in Great Falls.
There were no passengers in either vehicle.
The Accord came to rest in a borrow ditch in the westbound lane, while the Dakota landed in the eastbound lane.
Alcohol and drugs are not suspected factors in the crash.
