Helena-Lewis and Clark National Forest Offering Free Kids Christmas Tree Permits

(Helena) – With the Helena-Lewis and Clark National Forest offering their Christmas/holiday tree permits for the season New Media Broadcasters sat down with Chiara Cipriano the public affairs officer for the Helena-Lewis and Clark National Forest who talked about how fourth graders can obtain a free tree permit.

“Fourth graders with an “Every Kid Outdoors” pass are eligible for a free Christmas tree permit and they can apply if you look up “Every Kid Outdoors” the instructions will be there for how to get the pass and you can also come into one of our districts as well.”

We followed up by asking if the Forest Service planned on replanting trees lost to the holiday tree permits.

“Fortunately, most of the replanting happens naturally and, in these areas, where the trees are taken there’s usually plenty of trees so there’s no need for us to replant.”
