Havre, MT – The Havre High Blue Pony Girls basketball team came away with a 55-41 road win over the Mala Mustangs Tuesday night.
Amaya Jarvis was once again the team’s leading scorer with 18 points and head Coach Tommy Brown said his team’s competitiveness on every possession is a reason for the win.
“The story of this team so far is they have competed every possession. So, when we’ve got to make some adjustments and our effort is there we stay in the game, and after making some corrections we were able to go on a little run to win the game.”
Now the Blue Ponies are headed to Dillion to play Frenchtown and Bigfork in a pair of games that coach Brown believes could be their toughest matchup yet and that getting off to a good start will be a key factor for his team.
“We got two tough teams. I think we need to come out in the first half and be a little bit more prepared and focused from the jump. I don’t think these are two teams we want to give a lead to early, so just being able to go from the jump.” Brown said.
The Blue Ponies will take on Frenchtown Friday at 4:30p.m. and Bigfork on Saturday at 11:30a.m.
