Hill County Commission Approves Bid for Detention Center Project

HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – The Hill County Commission held their first weekly business meeting of 2021 on Thursday morning.

With previous Commission Chair Democrat Mike Wendland no longer in office, the Commission voted 2-0 to make Republican Diane McLean the Chair for 2021. McLean, who had been the Vice-Chair, abstained from the vote. By a 3-0 vote, Democrat Mark Peterson was named the new Vice-Chair of the Commission.

The Commission also selected a $253,960 bid package from the Kubl Group for the project to upgrade the electrical, communication and control systems in the Detention Center.

Hill County was awarded a $270,000 grant from the Department of Commerce through the Delivering Local Assistance program last year for this project. The next step will be approving the contract. The project is expected to take about six months to complete.
