HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – The Hill County Commission held their weekly business meeting on Thursday morning and discussed a series of issues.
The topic discussed at length was Rural Special Improvement District No. 10, which sits near the Milk River Levy.
Sanitarian Clay Vincent said that the boundary of the RSID was created decades ago and doesn’t include several properties near the dike.
The Milk River Levy is in need of multi-million dollar repairs in order to maintain compliance with the Army Corps of Engineers’ standards for flood protection. This process will take years and the County is working with the Corps, FEMA and others to figure out exactly what repairs are needed. Expanding the RSID could provide a source of some of the funding, as could several grants that the County plans to apply for.
Officials from both Hill County and the City of Havre stated that they intend to hold a public hearing in the near future to continue discussions on the potential expansion of RSID No. 10.
Also discussed at the meeting:
- The Commission announced that repairs to the Courthouse elevator have been completed. The elevator was out of operation for months as the County waited for repairs to be done.
- The Commission approved the Agro-Industrial Park Covenant. The Park is located southwest of Havre, and this agreement sets the rules and regulations for what can be done on the 40 acres of the Park. A resolution finalizing the covenant will be voted on at next week’s meeting.
