HAVRE, MT (NMB) The Hill County Commission held their weekly business meeting Thursday morning and voted unanimously to approve Resolution No. 22-2700, which would allocate monies from the Local Option Motor Vehicle 0.5% tax fees to be used for the running of local government.
The fees collected would come from vehicle fees under one ton, where 75% of revenue would be moved to the general fund and the remaining 25% would go to the insurance fund.
Commissioner Mark Peterson noted that credit card fees are assessed when residents paid fees or taxes online with a credit card but not assessed when fees are paid in person, or when paid in cash. Because of the issue with fees he was initially reluctant to vote in favor of the resolution.
Commissioner Diane McLean asked if this issue could be addressed at a future meeting which was approved.
