(Havre) As previously reported by New Media Broadcasters, Hill County is re-running its proposed road mill levy again during this year’s general election with a few key changes in wording.
New Media Broadcasters spoke with Commissioner Mark Peterson about what makes the tax ask different this time around.
“Like you said in the primary we talked about a 38 mill levy that would be basically forever, a 38 mill increase in the levy. That was turned down by the voters. So now we’re bringing up a proposal for up to 38 mills per year, over the next 10 years'”
If passed the new bill would enable the county to evaluate costs and decide how many mills they need with a limit of 38, Peterson commenting that the full 38 mills would generate 1.25 million dollars for the county’s road needs.
Commissioner Peterson also says that those with questions should call the road department to ask about operating costs or contact the office of the commissioners.
