(Havre) This week’s Hill County Commissioners Weekly Business meeting was host to another long discussion about the county employee wages, specifically the want by some members of the county to move away from the current pay matrix.
Before that, there was some talk about moving the county’s domain and emails to a dot G-O-V domain ahead of the general election this year for security reasons. The board showed an interest in this and motioned to investigate it further.
The end of the meeting was more discussion on the proposed new county employee wages chart, which would designate a single base pay for each county position with some variation depending on experience and education.
A main critique of the new plan during this meeting was the designation of new job titles, which replace the steps and grades method of the matrix, as they currently do not have a job description.
A motion from Commissioner Sheri Williams also sought to rescind last week’s longevity chart motion for further review and corrections, but that motion failed with a 2-1 vote.
The next meeting is scheduled for September 5th.
