(Havre) – Tuesday Night, The Hill County Democrat Central Committee met to select their candidate for the Hill County Commission District Three Seat that was held by Bill Lanier.
Perry Atchison was selected by the central committee earlier this year to finish out Lanier’s term through December 31st, 2026. He was the only candidate nominated for the position, and was voted by the central committee to be on the general election ballot in November.
Since former commissioner Lanier resigned in an even number year of his term, Montana Code Annotated states that each certified central committee in Hill County allowed to submit one name to the county chief elections officer to be placed on the November General Election Ballot. The Hill County Clerk and Recorder is the chief election official for the county.
